dynamite

A freakin' 12 gauge

asdfjkl; (home row)

I just put my daughter to bed. As we were cuddling, she look up at me and said, "pray daddy". It was so cool. I think this is the first time she asked one of us to pray. We always tell her that we are going to pray. It was pretty exciting. So we prayed and just cuddled. Not to overspiritualize anything, but it really hit me hard that i really need to pray more. The innocence and purity of Maddie's desire to pray was quite profound. Jesus wants us to have a childlike faith and dependence on Him and without prayer it's obvious that it can't happen. I just thank God for teaching us about Him through our children. Sweet.

Do da 'bot

Sometimes after supper while cleaning up we listen to music. There is this charlie hall song (Psalm 126) that starts out with a cool little loop. It has a little beeping sound and a cool beat. This beat makes me want to do the robot, so I decided to teach the robot to Maddie our 2 1/2 year old. She can rock out, as well as our head banging son Jude. My kids know how to rock. Maddie says, "let's dance dad....come on mom" So in the middle of the kitchen you got mom, dad, and maddie doing the robot and little jude banging his head to the beat. I am sure it is a sight that would frighten any person with groove or the the ability to remotely pull of the robot like "turbo" in the movie breakin. (if you feel like getting a piece of cardboard out of the garage and doing a back spin feel free) All that to say, my daughter sings this lyric: "You have done great things" and I hope some day she will understand what those things are and believe in them.

I was listening to the song in the car Saturday on the way to my dad's house and was moved deeply by it. It is so cool how the Psalm writer reflects back on history and celebrates the faith of God. I have a tendency to get sucked into a pity party forgetting what God has done for His people. Because of what He has done it has allowed me to know love at a deeper level that could not be known with out Christ. I never thought that I could experience the sort of joy that my children bring to my wife and myself. I pray that as a father and husband i would bring joy to my Father. Well for those of you that have never heard the song, here are the lyrics:

When the Lord brought back the captives ones of Zion
We were like those whose who dream
Our mouths are filled with laughter
Our tongues with joyful shouting
They say among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for us"

The Lord has done great things for us
we are filled with joy, we are filled with joy

You have done great things 4x

You've restored our hearts like streams that flow
those who've sowed in tears have reaped their joy
and returned with shouts and songs
carrying the fruit of God
